Standard applications are metallic coatings on paper and plastic foil. Typically generated by aluminium evaporation, these layers act as barriers for oxygen and water vapor in addition to their decorative function, thus generating high-performance packaging materials. Several features of the PRO-M are the result of purposeful R&D work, focused on key performance criteria. There is the high-rate evaporator UNIVAP, a patented Leybold Optics invention. The optimized arrangement of the ceramic evaporator boats results in unrivalled homogeneity and reproducibility.
