CORPORATE - February 2011 - DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management certification reconfirmed

| With surveillance audits performed by TÜV Süd in Alzenau and Dresden without deviations, Leybold Optics is allowed to extend the use of its DIN EN ISO 9001 certificate. Quality management plays a central role in Leybold Optics’ philosophy. As in previous years, the TÜV auditors were impressed by benchmark quality assurance procedures in all functions across the company. |

CORPORATE - Global strategy: LO USA starts production of ophthalmic systems

| Next milestone achieved in global production strategy: Since beginning of the year, Leybold Optics’ subsidiary in Cary, North Carolina, started the assembly and commissioning of CCS and Boxer, the two smaller eyeglass anti-reflection coating systems. This move is part of Leybold Optics’ philosophy to bring production geographically closer to the customers in key sectors, such as the US ophthalmic market. Leveraging technology Made in Germany combined with shorter feedback loops with customers – this will be a winning strategy. |
