LO concept study at the MIDO 2008: a surplus in ergonomics and economic efficiency thanks to fully automatic high-tech evolution
Trailblazer and pioneer in the ophthalmic industry: for more than 150 years LEYBOLD OPTICS (LO) has been setting standards. Its unique pioneering spirit and the urge to keep on developing has made the company from Alzenau one of the leading manufacturers of coating systems for the ophthalmic industry worldwide. The current portfolio of high-performance systems - HELIOS, SYRUSpro family, and BOXER bears witness to the unique know-how and expertise of the engineers at LO. The inhouse research and development department works continually on smart improvements and ground-breaking innovations - like, for instance, the new 'Robotic Operator System'.
At the moment it is still a concept study, but in the near future the vision of the fully automatic operator may very well optimize the effectiveness of the daily routine of LO's customers. The 'Robotic Operator System' (ROS) promises a noticeable surplus in ergonomics and the performance of the coating systems of HELIOS, SYRUSpro family, and BOXER. A rather simple principle is responsible for this amazing increase in performance: while in the past it was still necessary to load and unload the substrate holder manually before and after every coating process, this new automated robot system takes care of this task. Its human colleague only has to put in and remove the full substrate holders and monitor the process now.
Reliability and an easy handling: all product families of LEYBOLD OPTICS hold fast to this uncompromising demands. With ROS, the engineers at LO have managed to add a useful feature to the intuitive operation of a powerful coating system. This is another proof of LEYBOLD OPTICS' unique pioneering spirit. Hence, its customers can be sure to 'stay on step ahead' in the future as well. At the MIDO 2008 - the International Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology Exhibition - in Milan, interested visitors will find the study on the fully automatic Robotic Operator System as well as the latest developments of the business unit 'Optics' at the booth of the global player from Alzenau.
