LEYBOLD OPTICS wins another big order for a 'turn-key' thin film solar cell production line
Alzenau, September 12, 2007
LEYBOLD OPTICS, a leading global manufacturer of vacuum technology, has accepted a substantial order for a 'turn-key' silicon thin film solar cell production line from a customer located in Asia.
The advantages offered by the recently developed unique in-line concept at the centre of the LEYBOLD OPTICS production line have been decisive in the customer’s decision making process. A strict vertical substrate management combined with an extremely streamlined process cycle provide the basis not only for small system footprint and clean process environment but may also contribute to cost reductions in the production of amorphous/microcrystalline solar cells.
Revenues from this project will further contribute to the company’s intended future growth and will mainly be recognised in 2008/2009.
About LEYBOLD OPTICS
As a prominent manufacturer of vacuum coating systems and developer of processes for the thin film technology, LEYBOLD OPTICS is represented in thirteen countries worldwide. The main focus of our processing technologies is on evaporation, sputtering and plasma-assisted coating processes for display technology, ophthalmics, precision optics, reflective and protective coatings, web coating, R&D, and special applications.
The basis of our success was laid in Germany 150 years ago by Ernst Leybold and Wilhelm Carl Heraeus. They addressed their pioneering spirit to the search for new manufacturing processes and founded our internationally recognized vacuum-technology company, which has set market standards ever since.
