LEYBOLD OPTICS wins big order over 'turn-key' production line for thin film solar cells
Alzenau, August 29, 2007
LEYBOLD OPTICS, a leading global manufacturer of vacuum technology, has accepted a 42 m€ contract from Voltavis GmbH over a turn-key production line for solar modules based on silicon thin film solar cell technology.
The LEYBOLD OPTICS solar cell production line is based on a unique in-line concept offering an extremely streamlined process cycle for distinctly reduced production costs. The overall production line concept will be optimised for the silicon tandem cell technology showing a much greater potential for high cell efficiencies than the current single cell technology.
Revenues from this project will mainly be recognised in 2008 and will contribute considerably to the company’s intended future growth.
