Web coating: Upgraded FlexoPrintTechnology and improved Super Bias

LEYBOLD OPTICS presents further new developments in the Web segment. The new Super Bias allows highest process quality, productivity and user friendly operation. LO has been a leading manufacturer in the Super Bias technology before, but the German company is consolidating its lead in the market even further now.
The new Super Bias allows an optimized heat transfer from the web to the coating drum which is accomplished by the use of an electron beam gun controlled by a special and unique software package. Heavier coatings to new ultra thin films at high speeds without thermal damaging are possible because the film is charged by the gun. Consequently, it sticks to the drum during coating. This new idea results in excellent resistance measurements on ultra thin films at very high speeds.
The Alzenau department of Research & Development has succeeded in achieving a second further development in the field of the flexo printing systems. A small amount of oil is used here to obtain free areas in metallization. This method usually produces view windows, but basically any conceivable pattern is possible. Thanks to the LO engineers the technology can now be applied to packaging web coaters, too.
