AluMet 1800 V: Vertical configuration for complex tasks

Alzenau, 04/2006

LEYBOLD OPTICS (LO) is one of the leading manufacturers in the vacuum technology sector. The machine manufacturer from Alzenau, Germany, is presenting a new system variant of the well-known AluMet family in its current portfolio. AluMet 1800V has a vertical configuration instead of a horizontal one - a feature which achieves high throughput and perfect results. The system can be used for the coating of plastic and metal parts and copes with even the most difficult tasks.

AluMet 1800 is fully controlled by an IPC system. Glow discharge pre-treatment, PECVD base coatings, PECVD protective coatings, or the thermal evaporation of aluminum - the new LO system handles all materials with ease. Moreover, the system can be integrated into the customers' own company networks and simply serviced by modem. It is highly adaptable to all other individual specifications required by customers.

For the time being, LO offers two different variants of AluMet 1800V. AluMet 1800V 1500 is designed for customers with highest demands concerning throughput, whereas the smaller system with the 1100 chamber is exactly the right choice for smaller batch sizes. Both systems are suitable for just-in-time production. In order to increase productivity, LO has chosen a 'clamshell design' for AluMet 1800V – while one door is closed and the process running, the substrates can be exchanged easily at the other door.

About LEYBOLD OPTICS

As a prominent manufacturer of vacuum coating systems and developer of processes for the thin film technology, LEYBOLD OPTICS is represented in thirteen countries worldwide. The main focus of our processing technologies is on evaporation, sputtering and plasma-assisted coating processes for display technology, ophthalmics, precision optics, reflective and protective coatings, web coating, R&D, and special applications.

The basis of our success was laid in Germany 150 years ago by Ernst Leybold and Wilhelm Carl Heraeus. They addressed their pioneering spirit to the search for new manufacturing processes and founded our internationally recognized vacuum-technology company, which has set market standards ever since.
