Pro-M: More power for the packaging industry
Alzenau, 11/2005
The name LEYBOLD OPTICS (LO) stands for flexible, fast and economic coating systems in the vacuum sector. The machine designers from Alzenau, Germany, have yet again come up with a convincing performance in the form of a new and unique system concept: on the basis of only a single platform, Pro-M satisfies all of the demands which the packaging industry can place upon it.
Whether paper, polypropylene (CPP and BOPP), polyester (PET) or other materials - Pro-M performs convincingly by producing excellent results at minimal cycle times. This coating system for processing packaging films is among the most flexible in the market. And not only in terms of the choice of substrates to be coated: thanks to rigorous component structure, Pro-M is highly adaptable to all other individual specifications required by customers.
However, the uniqueness of Pro-M lies less in the multitude of features offered by LEYBOLD OPTICS, but rather in the combination of all options, substrates and processes on a single platform. With Pro-M, the LO engineers have not only bridged the gap between the metallization of paper and the coating of sensitive CPP (two applications involving quite different processes) - this coating system can also be quickly and easily switched from one process to the other.

About LEYBOLD OPTICS
As a prominent manufacturer of vacuum coating systems and developer of processes for the thin film technology, LEYBOLD OPTICS is represented in thirteen countries worldwide. The main focus of our processing technologies is on evaporation, sputtering and plasma-assisted coating processes for display technology, ophthalmics, precision optics, reflective and protective coatings, web coating, R&D, and special applications.
The basis of our success was laid in Germany 150 years ago by Ernst Leybold and Wilhelm Carl Heraeus. They addressed their pioneering spirit to the search for new manufacturing processes and founded our internationally recognized vacuum-technology company, which has set market standards ever since.
