LEYBOLD OPTICS at Photonics West: Starting into the new year with real spirit
Alzenau, 01/2005
DLCcs, Cold Light or SYRUS 1110: A lot has happened at LEYBOLD OPTICS' (LO) precision segment during the past months. From 25 through 27 January LO is now presenting the latest developments and revolutionary technologies from Alzenau at Photonics West exhibition in San Jose, California (booth 144). Apart from the various new developments in the field of applications, the popular systems from the SYRUSpro series and the multi-talented HELIOS are, of course, also on show.
LO's new 'diamond-like carbon coating system” (DLCcs) is the right choice for far-IR anti-reflex applications. As for example on germanium substrates, the system produces diamond-like hard carbon V-AR-coatings. The extremely hard DLC layers do not only protect the exposed surfaces of substrates, but also increase infrared transmittance. DLCcs is based on proven process technology and the chamber geometry of the renowned Z550 VZK. It is equipped with a modern frame and pumping and with state-of-the-art control system technology. With DLCcs it is easy to run controllable and stable automatic coating processes.
In the field of 'cold light' the processes have also been developed further in Alzenau. Traditional cold light mirror coating technology cannot satisfy the current demands for optimum reflectivity in combination with low absorption and scattering. The new Leybold process is able to do just that. It avoids the traditional tempering step and is tested up to 700 degrees Celsius. In combination with the high productivity of SYRUSpro 1510, these clear performance advantages enable LO customers to produce coatings with a higher number of layers at very competitive overall costs.
SYRUSpro CFM, which was presented in June 2004 only, is a real story of success. Introduced at the Optatec conference, the first system was sold in November. The CFM is a simplified variant on SYRUSpro 1110. It specifically fits the needs of digital optical applications, such as IR-cut and UV/IR-cut applications. Its increased loading capacity, the high-speed process with APSpor, and its superior production output make it the best choice for customers seeking an affordable production workhorse for the visible range.
About LEYBOLD OPTICS
As a prominent manufacturer of vacuum coating systems and developer of processes for the thin film technology, LEYBOLD OPTICS is represented in thirteen countries worldwide. The main focus of our processing technologies is on evaporation, sputtering and plasma-assisted coating processes for display technology, ophthalmics, precision optics, reflective and protective coatings, web coating, R&D, and special applications.
The basis of our success was laid in Germany 150 years ago by Ernst Leybold and Wilhelm Carl Heraeus. They addressed their pioneering spirit to the search for new manufacturing processes and founded our internationally recognized vacuum-technology company, which has set market standards ever since.
